Logistics Engineer

Overview

The VA NSOC defends, manages, and monitors the network operating status and cyber security posture of the VA by providing day‑to‑day management, operation, and configuration of the enterprise network infrastructure, Internet gateways, enterprise security systems and services, monitoring and reporting of security incidents, threat and vulnerability analysis, validation of security controls, and incident management and response. The Asset Manager manages the complete lifecycle of assets/Configuration Items (CIs) from procurement to decommissioning, serving as the logistics subject‑matter expert for the CRRC VA Network & Security Operations Center. This onsite position is located in Martinsburg, WV.

Responsibilities

• Participate in support projects of major scope and complexity as required.
• Advise VA‑NSOC on logistics operations; develop logistics methods and procedures for asset control, inventory management, and accountability.
• Oversee coordination, determination, redistribution, and implementation of tactical SOPs for reutilization and disposal of excess IT equipment.
• Manage MAC tickets via ServiceNow (Moves, Adds, Changes).
• Handle shipping and receiving of assets (logistics).
• Perform audits of all IT assets within VA‑NSOC (annual inventories).
• Utilize ERP systems to create and modify configured items.
• Monitor all IT assets from procurement through disposition for compliance with VA policies.
• Execute special projects related to large‑scale asset management and logistics.
• Use Microsoft Office Suite, with moderate skill in Excel spreadsheets.
• Operate ticketing systems with moderate proficiency.
• Install, remove, and transport server equipment.
• Apply general technical understanding of network equipment, datacenter operations, and follow schematics for hardware installation.
• Determine logistics support sequences and time phasing.
• Demonstrate good writing and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 0–3 years of logistics engineering experience (or commensurate experience).
• Ability to maintain a public trust clearance.

Pay

Salary range: $46,770.00 – $52,000.00 per year (USD).
