Logistics Engineer 1 (Asset Management Team)
About the role
The VA NSOC defends, manages, and monitors the network operating status and cyber security posture of the VA by providing day-to-day management, operation, and configuration of the enterprise network infrastructure, Internet Gateways, delivery of enterprise security systems and services, monitoring and reporting of security incidents, threat and vulnerability analysis, validation of security controls, and incident management and response. The Asset Manager oversees the complete lifecycle of assets/Configuration Items (CIs) from procurement to decommissioning. As the logistics subject matter expert, this role performs and coordinates detailed logistics analysis of IT assets, provides logistics support, and implements and evaluates logistic goals and priorities for the CRRC VA Network & Security Operations Center. This is an onsite position located in Martinsburg, WV.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in support projects of major scope and complexity.
- Advise the VA-NSOC on logistics operations; develop logistics methods and procedures for asset control, inventory management, and accountability.
- Oversee coordination, determination, redistribution, and implementation of tactical standard operating procedures for reutilization and disposal of IT excess equipment.
- Manage MAC tickets via ServiceNow (Moves, Adds, Changes).
- Handle shipping and receiving of assets (Logistics).
- Perform audits of all IT assets within the VA-NSOC (Annual Inventories).
- Adapt and utilize ERP systems to create and modify configured items.
- Monitor all IT assets from procurement through disposition for compliance with VA policies.
- Experience with large asset management and logistics environments.
- Moderate skills using the Microsoft Office Suite, proficient in Excel spreadsheets.
- Moderate skills using a ticketing system.
- Install, remove, and transport server equipment.
- General technical understanding of network equipment and functions, datacenter operations.
- Follow schematics to coordinate proper installation of hardware for networking devices.
- Determine logistics support sequences and time phasing.
- Demonstrate good writing and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years of experience (or commensurate experience).
- Ability to sit up to 6 hours per day using close vision and repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement (to operate computer equipment).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Travel: 25% of the time.
- Must be able to pass a government Tier 2 Moderate Background Investigation.
Pay
Posted salary range: USD $60,800.00 – USD $74,830.00 per year.
