Logistics Coordinator
About the role
The Logistics Coordinator provides clerical and administrative support for inbound and outbound logistical operations across the distribution center and intersite network. This role coordinates inventory management, warehousing, and transportation activities to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs. Supporting a broad range of functions including sourcing, receiving, purchasing, and dispatching, this position serves as the coordination hub between warehouse operations, transportation providers, customer service, and internal systems. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, disciplined execution, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Build, release, and dispatch outbound and intersite shipments in the WMS/TMS
- Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate dock appointments
- Ensure accurate shipment documentation including BOLs, labels, and packing lists
- Confirm loads are properly tendered, dispatched, and closed in all systems
- Cookordinate warehousing and transportation activities to support accurate stock levels and cost-efficient operations
- Aid with sourcing, receiving, and purchasing functions in support of logistics operations
- Maintain accurate shipment and logistics data across WMS, TMS, and ERP platforms
- Validate shipment details including quantities, weights, and destinations
- Identify and resolve shipment discrepancies and delays; escalate unresolved issues with clear facts and recommended next steps
- Support daily shipping reports, dashboards, and KPI tracking
- Provide real-time shipment status updates to internal stakeholders and carriers
- Cookordinate inbound receiving schedules and communicate with plant shipping teams on transfer logistics
- Ensure all shipments meet safety, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions; identify process gaps and recommend improvements
- Serve as a primary communication link between warehouse, transportation, and customer service teams
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, dispatch, or warehouse administration
- Hands-on experience operating WMS and/or TMS platforms; ability to troubleshoot basic system discrepancies
Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines with accuracy
- Clear and professional communicator with strong follow-through and accountability
Preferred Requirements
- Experience: Experience in a distribution center or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with intersite transfers, plant shipping, or 3PL coordination
- Prior exposure to carrier management, freight coordination, or purchasing support
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Sage, SAP, or Oracle
Physical Requirements
An office-based role within a distribution center environment. Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday. Occasional extended hours to support peak shipping or logistics activity. Minimal travel required. Occasional travel between the Baytown and Pasadena sites may be necessary.
