Logistics Assistant

About the role

The Logistics Assistant supports all functions of the Logistics Department, including dispatching, tracking and tracing, and setting pickup/delivery appointments.

Responsibilities

• Inform drivers of loading locations, dates and times.
• Schedule pickup and delivery appointments.
• Check on the status of loads continuously.
• Maintain customer service requirements.
• Punctual and efficient in completing all assigned tasks.
• Complete continuing training as directed by management.
• Reflect a positive attitude in all relationships with customers, vendors, and carrier partners.

Qualifications

• Knowledge: Basic knowledge of trucking/transportation industry preferred, but not required. Prior sales experience preferred but not required.
• Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to execute logical decisions quickly. Ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Good computer and keyboarding skills with the ability to accurately type at 45 WPM. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience, Education, And Training: Four-year college degree in Logistics or other business-related field.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for a large portion of the day, multitask, talk on the telephone for extended periods of time, and type efficiently. Must be able to work at least 48 hours per week and be on-call if issues with fleet arise.
• Working Environment: Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. Surroundings can be noisy at times. On-site presence is required.
