About the role

This role supports a rapidly growing transportation network by ensuring carrier partners are paid accurately and on time for the loads they complete. As a Logistics Specialist focused on middle mile payment disputes, you will investigate and resolve payment issues, reconcile discrepancies, and support continuous improvement of payment processes. You will work in a high-visibility position within a fast-paced logistics environment, using your operations background, analytical skills, and customer-focused mindset to deliver best-in-class service to carriers.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve payment disputes for the transportation services carrier network.
  • Deep dive into individual cases by reviewing notes, documentation, and system records to determine the root cause of payment errors.
  • Resolve carrier claims on invoice payments in accordance with established payment policies and contracts.
  • Review and interpret multiple payment policies and contracts to verify payment requirements and ensure accurate application.
  • Assess up to approximately 20 different work types to determine the appropriate payment resolution path.
  • Calculate payment differences and reconcile discrepancies between expected and actual payments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely resolution of carrier payment disputes to maintain service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain the organization's SLA commitments to carriers by meeting quality and timeliness standards for case resolution.
  • Meet or exceed established daily quota goals for dispute resolution and related case work.
  • Collaborate directly with carriers and cross-functional internal teams to clarify issues and drive payment resolutions.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external partners to explain findings, decisions, and next steps.
  • Engage with internal teams and stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve payment processes and uphold the customer promise.
  • Support ad-hoc requests related to payments, data analysis, and process improvements as needed.
  • Assist the team with other payment-related initiatives and projects when opportunities arise.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and other tools to analyze large data sets, identify trends, and support performance and process improvements.
  • Apply basic mathematics and data analysis to validate payment calculations and ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to evolving business requirements, workflows, and priorities.
  • Provide B2B customer support to carrier partners, focusing on delivering a positive and solution-oriented experience.
  • Leverage logistics and operations experience to understand transportation workflows and their impact on payments.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and other related platforms.
  • Practical Excel skills, such as working with pivot tables and charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, and array formulas.
  • Previous logistics or operations experience, with higher-level warehouse experience preferred.
  • Experience managing large data sets and using data to drive performance and process improvements.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Background in B2B customer support, supply chain, transportation, freight, or third-party logistics.
  • Experience in logistics operations and transportation environments.
  • Ability to perform data analysis to support payment reconciliation and process improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deep dive into complex cases.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion and drive for delivering excellent service to carriers.
  • Ability to work independently in an often ambiguous work environment.
  • Basic mathematics skills to calculate payment differences and validate invoice amounts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of program management, logistics, operations, supply chain, transportation, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • 1+ years of management experience (preferred).
  • Experience with SQL, including querying and analyzing data (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • Experience in program management or process ownership within logistics or transportation settings.
  • Familiarity with third-party logistics operations and freight payment workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to operational enhancements.
  • Alignment with leadership principles such as Deep Dive and Ownership, demonstrating thorough analysis and end-to-end responsibility for outcomes.

Work Environment

This position is 100% onsite in a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment. Schedules consist of four 10-hour shifts each week, covering all seven days. Typical schedule patterns include a front-half schedule (Sunday–Wednesday), a back-half schedule (Wednesday–Saturday), and a donut schedule (Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday). The role requires flexibility to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed. You will work extensively with technology tools such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and potentially SQL-based systems to analyze data and manage payment cases. Pay

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
