About the role

The mission of Gaston County Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) is to preserve and enhance the quality of life for the residents and visitors of Gaston County by providing superior quality Emergency Medical Service.

Responsibilities

  • Stock closets with supplies at beginning and end of each shift.
  • Cleaning and decontamination of Emergency Response Vehicles.
  • Meet trucks at shift change and stock their necessary items.
  • Refill oxygen tanks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalency.
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Apply commonly accepted safety procedures and precautions.
  • Conduct daily visual inspections of work units and their vehicles.

  • Operate a personal or county vehicle or other vehicles in the performance of official business and under varying conditions.
  • Operate a computer.
  • Prepare and maintain departmental physical conditioning standards.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and written, with various public and private agencies, the general public, government officials, and employees of the County.
