Locust Grove Elementary - Full Time Child Care Aide

Classified hourly position reporting to the Director of School Child Care.

About the role

Plan, supervise, and implement daily programs for children in accordance with Youth Enrichment Program policies and philosophy.

Schedule

• Full-time employees: 191 contract days per year on the board-approved 105 salary schedule.
• Part-time employees: varying hours on the 105 salary schedule.
• Seasonal day care employees: varying hours on the 105 salary schedule; contracts are for one-year increments unless extended by the director.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Two years' experience in child care is desired.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift 40 pounds; kneel and reach above your head.

Responsibilities

• Assure the safety and wellbeing of children under supervision.
• Treat all children with dignity and respect, creating a safe environment that promotes positive behavior.
• Participate in childcare, actively engaging with students by circulating, assisting, and interacting.
• Assist with medical needs as determined by a physician or District Nurse.
• Help children with daily routines and personal needs such as clothing, lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
• Assist in cleaning and straightening the childcare room, including furniture and equipment.
• Implement instructional procedures and other instructions from the Director.
• Support positive parent/staff relationships by communicating with the director about a child's progress and needs.
• Assist in planning and supervising activities that promote positive child development.
• Respond to student misbehavior as laid out by the director and report any unsafe behavior directly to the director.
• Attend all required staff meetings and professional development.
• Abide by all Oldham County Board of Education policies.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of School Child Care or Principal.
