About the role

ECU Health Physicians and ECU Health Women’s Care-Roanoke Rapids are seeking a board‑certified OBGYN to join a new Women’s Care practice in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The position is a locum tenens opportunity within ECU Health, a 1,708‑bed academic health‑care system serving more than 1.4 million people across 29 eastern North Carolina counties. The system includes nine hospitals, over 1,100 academic and community providers, and more than 185 primary and specialty clinics. Specialty: Obstetrics & Gynecology. Candidate type: MD or DO. Visas accepted: No J‑1 or H‑1B. Employment type: Locum tenens.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynecologic care.
• Share call with Rural Health Group.
• Manage an average total inpatient census of 6 patients (4‑5 patients, 1‑2 couplets) per day.
• See an average of 6 patients per day per provider.
• Handle an average of 2 admissions per day and 2 admissions per night.
• Perform 20‑30 births per month, of which roughly one‑third are cesarean sections.
• Perform procedures including vacuum extraction, circumcisions, and cesarean sections.
• Maintain anticipated volume split of approximately 17 % outpatient vs. 83 % inpatient.
• Work collaboratively with Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) and provide backup when hospital concerns fall outside the CNM’s scope.
• Hold privileges at ECU Health North Hospital.

Requirements

• Board‑certified OBGYN (BC).
• MD or DO degree.
• No J‑1 or H‑1B visa sponsorship required.
• Available for locum tenens assignment.
• Complete orientation the day before the first shift (or on the first shift day).
• Ability to work effectively with Certified Nurse Midwives and provide hospital backup as needed.

• Weekly clinic hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
