Shifts

• 12-hr day shift -- 15 - 18 patients
• 8-hr day shift -- 10 - 14 patients
• 8-hr admitting shift -- 3 - 6 admissions
• Night shift -- 3 - 8 admissions
• ICU coverage required -- ventilator order adjustments may be needed

Requirements

• No procedures required -- intubation handled by others
• Codes led by ED physician -- hospitalists attend in a support role
