Locum NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician's Assistant) Hematology Oncology

Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations for hematology and oncology patients.
  • Assist physicians in creating and executing individualized treatment plans.
  • Administer and monitor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology treatments.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging studies.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and side effect management.
  • Document all patient encounters accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintain patient progress, evaluate responses to treatment, and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Provide supportive care focused on symptom management and quality-of-life improvement.
  • Participate in patient rounds, case discussions, and continuing education activities.

Requirements

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician's Assistant (PA) licensure in good standing.
  • Current national board certification as an NP or PA.
  • DEA certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of oncology medications, chemotherapy protocols, and treatment side effects.
  • Excellent patient communication and health education abilities.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems and documentation standards.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience is acceptable.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
