Locum NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician's Assistant) Gastroenterology

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and symptom evaluation
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work, imaging, and endoscopic studies
• Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Assist in endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, and capsule endoscopy
• Provide patient education on gastrointestinal conditions, treatment options, and preventive care
• Prescribe medications and manage follow-up care as permitted by state regulations
• Document patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic health records
• Cook with nursing and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care
• Participate in hospital consultations and coverage as needed
• Stay current with evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines in gastroenterology

Requirements

• Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Georgia
• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with national certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
• Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for patient and team interactions
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced medical setting
• Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Willingness to work on-site in Macon, GA with a contract schedule
