Responsibilities

• Oversight of hospitalized patients' care, from admission to discharge planning.
• Collaboration with other healthcare professionals for continuity of care.
• Coordination with specialists for complex cases.
• Thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Daily rounds to assess patient progress and update treatment plans.
• Performance of procedures such as intubations and central lines.
• Communication with patients and families regarding diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Response to emergency situations and provision of immediate medical intervention.
• Collaboration with case managers and social workers for discharge planning.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Residency training program in internal medicine or family medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
• Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
• Active and unrestricted medical license in North Carolina.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of internal medicine with the ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions.
• Ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Efficiency in managing large patient loads.
