Locomotive Engineer - Westlake, LA

Responsibilities

Affords assistance in all aspects of the safe daily operation of trains.

Operates equipment in accordance with company policies, procedures, and practices.

• Operates track switches, couples cars, and works on yard operations.
• Moves and aligns various parts of rail equipment to create or build trains.
• Multi-tasks by performing multiple tasks safely that may involve pulling, controlling, and maneuvering onto and off of equipment.
• Collaborates with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars.
• Handles Conductor duties as increasing responsibilities are expected and required.

Job Requirements

• Must be safety minded and possess basic reading and math skills.
• Must demonstrate the ability to foster teamwork and interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Must be capable of receiving and giving instructions via radio.

Physical Requirements

• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner.
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80lbs.
• Able to push and pull with up to 150lbs of force.
