Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain a wide range of locking systems, including mechanical locks, electronic locks, padlocks, door hardware, and secure-area access devices.
- Service, repair, and inspect GSA-approved security containers, vault doors, and secure storage equipment in accordance with federal physical security requirements.
- Install, operate, and maintain Kaba Mas / X-Series locks (e.g., X-09, X-10, CDX-09, CDX-10) and other approved high-security locking mechanisms.
- Perform combination changes, lock re-cores, and keying adjustments for secure storage containers, restricted areas, and controlled spaces.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning locks, cylinders, cores, and electronic locking components.
- Install and service door hardware such as hinges, closers, panic bars, strike plates, and access-control interfaces.
- Respond to lockouts, access issues, and urgent repair requests to restore secure entry or egress.
- Maintain strict key control, including issuance, tracking, accountability logs, and secure storage of keys and combinations.
- Conduct inspections of locking devices and secure storage equipment to identify wear, damage, or security vulnerabilities; recommend corrective actions.
- Document all work performed, including lock changes, combination resets, key issuance, and hardware maintenance.
- Coordinate with physical security personnel, facility managers, and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with Navy and DoD physical security requirements.
Requirements
- Prior experience supporting secure government, military, or industrial facilities.
- Formal locksmith training, certification, or apprenticeship preferred.
- A minimum Secret security clearance or higher is required to be considered for this position.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or high school equivalent certificate.
