Locksmith
About the Role
CGL Facility Management, LLC provides comprehensive contract facility maintenance services to commercial clients. The Locksmith is responsible for skilled repair and service of locks, electronic access equipment, and related hardware. This position may also involve making keys and performing routine or emergency locksmith functions.
The Locksmith deals with the mechanical actions and correct operations of all locks, key or keyless devices, including electronic access equipment and related hardware.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventative and/or corrective maintenance on new and existing locks, locking controls, doors, and other equipment in accordance with work orders or direction from Facility Manager and/or Supervisor.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains pneumatic locking systems, door positioning sensors, electric doors, manual and electronic panic devices, and openers.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains electro-magnetic latching systems; wires and installs card reading and scanning devices.
- Establishes key lock and related systems to permit controlled access to buildings and ensures security.
- Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts locks; checks keys and locks for wear and repairs or replaces them.
- Responds to emergency requests regarding problems with building locking devices within established standards of promptness.
- Performs required administrative tasks, such as work order documentation and general record keeping, ensuring all work conforms to contractual agreements, quality standards, and OSHA codes.
- Responsible for preventive and corrective lock and safe maintenance work orders.
- Maintains all required records and logs; submits clear, legible, and complete information on all work performed and enters data into a computerized maintenance management system.
- Stays abreast of advanced Locksmith technologies and trends.
- Follows tool control policies, lock control policies, and all OSHA guidelines.
- Pursues continuing education related to certifications for current technologies in security locking systems and appurtenances.
- Communicates task and project timelines in a timely manner to Facility Manager and/or Supervisor.
- Ensures proper key control is established and followed by all staff.
- Completes all required compliance, safety, and developmental training as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or 4-6 years of locksmith or maintenance experience in commercial environments Required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and ascertain information on electrical schematics.
- Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Completes all documentation required in compliance with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Team player with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and desire to succeed.
- Outstanding customer service to meet client needs.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Holds licenses/certifications as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.
- Self-motivated, able to multitask, prioritize, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in client interactions.
