About the role
At CableCom, LLC, as a Locator, you’ll operate electronic locating equipment to guide a horizontal directional drill along a planned path, ensuring accuracy while avoiding existing underground utilities.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
- Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
- Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities.
- Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.
- Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed.
- Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements.
- Respond to emergency calls.
- Work weekends, night work and/or overnight travel as needed.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.
Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
- A High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
- A valid US driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record.
- Drill Locator Experience Required.
- Physical Abilities & Exposures: Routinely work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse; Occasionally use portable ladder, work in confined spaces and climb stairs.
Qualifications

- Ability to read and interpret utility maps.
- Physical ability to perform light excavation and manhole entry.

Pay
The wage range for Locator - Directional Drill Bore is $23.00 - $28.00.
