About the role

At CableCom, LLC, as a Locator, you’ll operate electronic locating equipment to guide a horizontal directional drill along a planned path, ensuring accuracy while avoiding existing underground utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
  • Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
  • Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities.
  • Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.
  • Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed.
  • Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements.
  • Respond to emergency calls.
  • Work weekends, night work and/or overnight travel as needed.
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.

Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
  • A High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • A valid US driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record.
  • Drill Locator Experience Required.
  • Physical Abilities & Exposures: Routinely work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse; Occasionally use portable ladder, work in confined spaces and climb stairs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience operating electronic locating equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility maps.
  • Physical ability to perform light excavation and manhole entry.

Pay

The wage range for Locator - Directional Drill Bore is $23.00 - $28.00.
