Local Route Driver- Colfax, WA

About the Role

Empire Disposal, a Waste Connections Company, has an immediate opening for a Local CDL Garbage Truck Driver to join our team in Colfax, WA. This position is labor-intensive and requires continuous movement in and out of the truck, manually collecting solid waste and dumping it into the back of a rear load garbage truck, as well as transporting it to the appropriate facilities for disposal.

Responsibilities

• Read route sheets or driver tablet and service each customer identified or assigned by the dispatcher.
• Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
• Load and unload waste, often without assistance, handling objects over 50 pounds.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Basic knowledge of truck components for pre- and post-trip inspections.

Working Conditions

• Extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather (wet/humid conditions), fumes, and vibration.
• Moderate noise levels.

Schedule

Monday-Thursday, 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with occasional overtime. Average 45+ hour work week.

Pay

$29.00/HR for CDL Licensed Drivers. $26.90/HR for Non-CDL Drivers (CDL training provided).

Washington State wage range is $26-$29.00.
