Local/Regional Truck Driver

About the role

Vulcan Steel Products is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Local/Regional Truck Driver to transport goods efficiently and safely within a designated local and/or regional area.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial vehicles to transport freight safely and efficiently throughout assigned local and/or regional routes
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and delivered safely
• Maintain accurate electronic or paper logs in compliance with DOT regulations
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse personnel
• Adhere to delivery schedules while following all traffic laws and safety procedures
• Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or delays promptly
• Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of assigned equipment
• Handle shipping documents, bills of lading, and delivery confirmations accurately
• Provide professional and courteous customer service during pickups and deliveries

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred
• Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements
• Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS systems
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as needed

Skills

• Experience with Plexus ERP is preferred
