Local Delivery Driver (Class B w/Hazmat)
About the role
We are hiring a Local Delivery Driver in Jennings, LA. The position is open and offers a starting salary of $26 per hour with potential for bonuses. The schedule is Monday through Friday, Day Shift.
Responsibilities
- Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
- Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt.
- Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
- Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
- Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.
Requirements
- Valid LA Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
- Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
- Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications.
- No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
- Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.
- Must be at least 21 years or older.
- Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
- Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
- Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary safety credentials for customer site access.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (Forklift/Moffett).
- Comfort with electronic logging and handheld delivery technology.
- Bilingual in Spanish (fluent in speaking, writing, and reading) strongly preferred.
