Local Delivery Driver (CDL B)

About the role

We are hiring a Local Delivery Driver in Linthicum Heights, MD. The position offers a quarterly bonus potential, comprehensive family benefits, and a competitive pay range of $32.50-$34.50 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations.
• Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt.
• Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Requirements

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat Endorsement (or willing to obtain).
• One (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
• In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school.
• Must be at least 21 years or older.
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License, a valid Medical Examiner's Card, and a Hazmat endorsement (or willingness to obtain). Applicants must also have one year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five years and a clean driving record, or meet alternative requirements as outlined above.

Skills

Essential skills include the ability to read and understand material safety data sheets, lift heavy objects, drive hazardous cargo, and work independently under pressure.
