Local Delivery Driver (CDL A)

About the role

Located in Grandville, MI (Retail shop), the Local Delivery Driver (CDL A) serves as an Ambassador for Airgas, ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant using a company‑provided straight or box truck, you will manage cylinder flow, build customer relationships, and support warehouse/dock tasks as needed. Responsibilities

• Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to external and internal customer locations.
• Accurately record deliveries and pick‑ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt.
• Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA.
• Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications.
• One (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years with a clean driving record (≤2 convictions, ≤2 at‑fault accidents, or equivalent combination).
• Alternatively, a diploma from an accredited driving school plus ≥1 year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years.
• Minimum age 21 years.
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76–>125 lbs. with material handling equipment.
• Capable of driving hazardous cargo up to 8 hours per day; frequent bending required.
• Ability to obtain a forklift operator certification.

Skills

Pay

Starting pay rate $30.60 per hour with quarterly bonus potential.

Monday – Friday, day shift.
