Local Delivery Driver (Box Truck)

The Local Driver position at Daikin Comfort Technologies Distribution, Inc. is based at our Hicksville, NY branch. The primary responsibility is to safely operate company trucks for timely delivery of products to customer and company locations. Duties include loading, unloading, and transferring products using various equipment and forklifts. The driver also assists with warehouse duties and front counter tasks.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and deliver products to customer sites within designated time frames safely using the most efficient routes.
• Maintain required logs and reports necessary to maintain compliance with DOT and Company policies relating to safety standards and operation of delivery vehicles, forklifts, etc.
• Safely load and properly block, brace, and secure the cargo.
• Maintain a working knowledge of commercial truck mechanics and current Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Operate forklift safely and efficiently to transfer, load, and unload products ensuring accurate product and quantity of product is being loaded into customers' facilities.
• Perform pre-check and post-check operations of Company vehicles and forklifts per required procedures.
• Perform warehouse duties and ensure accurate product and quantity of product is being loaded/transferred for customers.
• Act as the warehouse and/or front counter backup as needed.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years old
• Valid driver's license in the state of employment
• Working knowledge of commercial truck mechanics
• Working knowledge of current Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
• Minimum of 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the past 3 years
• Successful completion of DOT road test, pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, and background check
• DMV record cannot reflect an excess of 2 moving violations and/or preventable accidents within the past 3 years
• Valid driving license with excellent driving record
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs or lift lighter items repetitively or perform 2 man lifts for heavier items
• Able to stand or walk for extended periods of time

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proficient in using MS Office including Outlook & Excel, Mincron, and a scanner
• Able to multi-task well with the ability to assist in warehouse or front counter or a branch as needed
• Timely to work and conscientious of his/her time
• Able to operate a forklift
• Experience 3+ years driving a commercial vehicle
• Current Valid Driver License
