About the role

We’re seeking talented healthcare professionals for a local contract nursing position in Anchorage, Alaska. This role is ideal for those who value flexibility, high pay, and adventure alongside their clinical career.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Operating Room (OR) for a variety of surgical procedures.
• Adhere to 1:1 patient ratios during surgical cases.
• Participate in on-call shifts (approximately 4-5 shifts per 4 weeks).
• Work collaboratively with a team of 70 staff members, including RNs, Surgical Techs, Charge RNs, Surgical Support Techs, and Anesthesia Techs.
• Perform duties in a fast-paced surgical environment with 11 operating rooms.

Requirements

• Active RN license in Alaska (permanent license required to submit).
• Must clear state background and fingerprint process prior to starting the assignment.
• Experience in Orthopedics and Neuro surgery (required).
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Experience with the following is preferred:
  • Davinci XI robotic surgery
  • Vascular, ENT, General, and Cardiovascular (CV) Surgery

• Number of Beds: 11 Operating Rooms
• Number of Staff: 70
• Shifts for Traveler:
  • Days: 06:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Swing shifts: 09:00 AM – 9:30 PM or 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
• Staffing Breakdown:
  • Day Shift: 13 RN, 13 Surgical Tech, 1 Charge RN, 3-5 Surgical Support Tech, 1-2 Anesthesia Tech
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 1 Surgical Tech
• EMR: EPIC
• On-Call Requirements: Varies, approximately 4-5 shifts per 4 weeks
• Weekend Requirements: On-call, possible scheduled shifts as unit requires

• Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), Total Shoulder Arthroplasty (TSA)
• Lumbar Spine and Cervical Spine surgeries
• Laparoscopic Appendectomy, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
• Hysterectomy, Abscess Incision & Drainage (I&D)
• Amputations, Pediatric Dental procedures
• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)/Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
• Mastectomy

Pay

Estimated pay package based on bill rate at time job was posted. Bill rates can change frequently and without notice. Exact pay package may vary based on guaranteed hours, distance traveled, and customizations available for travelers. Overtime paid after 8 hours.
