Local Contract Nurse RN - ED - Emergency Department - $52-58 per hour

Local contract nursing opportunity in Geneva, New York for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN). 13-week assignment starting immediately, 24 hours per week with 12-hour rotating shifts. Part-time schedule includes 2 regular 12-hour shifts plus 2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Apply nursing theory, technical skills, and communication to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients and families in the Emergency Department.
• Assess patient needs, identify urgent or emergent care priorities, and provide direct care, interventions, and evaluate patient progress.
• Perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions for life-threatening and routine emergency situations.
• Utilize relationship-based care principles to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain, discomfort, and safety concerns.
• Assess physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients across all age groups, their families, and support systems.
• Engage with patients and families during triage, establish rapport, address comfort needs, and provide frequent updates.
• Conduct primary and secondary assessments, identify deviations from normal, and determine necessary interventions.
• Assess psychosocial needs, document and report suspicions of domestic violence or abuse across all age groups.
• Reassess patients to monitor response to treatment and changes in condition, responding appropriately.
• Foster teamwork, mutual trust, and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks and interventions consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies to safeguard public safety.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, and make appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.
• Provide patient and family education for continued care at home, assessing learning styles and evaluating retention of key points.
• Prioritize patient and family needs, keeping them informed throughout the ER visit and maintaining awareness of their condition.
• Update patient communication boards throughout the ED stay.

Requirements

• Active New York State RN licensure.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (must be AHA or RQI).
• Two years of acute hospital experience as an RN.
• One year of Emergency Department hospital experience as an RN.

Skills

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS certification.
• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an ER environment.
