Local contract RN position in the Emergency Department (ED) in Hopewell, Virginia.
About the role
13-week contract with 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.
Unit Details
- Number of Beds: 22 (with vertical space for additional patients)
- Number of Staff: approximately 50
- Day Shift staffing: 1 Charge Coordinator, 5-6 nurses, 1 tech, 1 medic
- Night Shift staffing: 1 Charge Coordinator, 5-6 nurses, 1 secretary, 1 tech/medic
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Equipment: Phillips & GE Monitors, Level 1 Rapid Infuser
- EMR: Meditech (EDM)
- Floating: Potentially to the Free-Standing Emergency Department (FSED) approximately 15 minutes away
Responsibilities
Typical procedures performed on the unit include:
- Cardioversion
- Central line placements
- Cardiac arrests
- IV insertions, EKGs, and other basic ER skills
- Pacemaker interrogation
- Code Stroke protocol
- Code Sepsis protocol
- Suture/abscess setup
Requirements
Must have (candidates without these skills will not be considered):
- Strong IV skills for adults and pediatric patients
- Excellent communication skills
Qualifications
Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Preferred or nice to have (candidates with these skills will be considered first):
- Trauma experience, TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Meditech experience
