Local CDL-A Driver 1st Shift

About the role

The Driver is responsible for driving a company truck and transporting loads to customer accounts, helping ensure materials arrive safely and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor & trailer, which may require shifting and use of a clutch on assigned vehicle
• Complete the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), noting any defects on assigned equipment, daily
• Driver Log, and Monthly Mileage Report
• Follow all Federal, State, and Local driving regulations and ordinances
• Perform minor repair or cleaning of can densifiers
• Use required PPE as needed, including proper ear, eye, and hand protection
• Clean and perform basic upkeep/maintenance on assigned vehicles
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
• Interact in person with peers and management for the duration of the shift
• Handle high-stress situations as needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• 2 years of verifiable related driving experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• CDL A license with an acceptable driving record and a valid medical card
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission
• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Able to follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation
• Able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions
• Able to write routine reports and correspondence

Physical Requirements

• Remain in a seated position for the duration of the shift
• Frequently operate controls to position, load, and unload the truck
• Frequently lift and move materials and tools weighing up to 50 lbs to load/unload and tarp the truck and perform basic maintenance
• Work in a loud, wet, dusty, and physically demanding environment, including extreme hot and cold temperature variations
• Routinely perform repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting
