Local CDL-A Driver 1st Shift
About the role
The Driver is responsible for driving a company truck and transporting loads to customer accounts, helping ensure materials arrive safely and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Drive tractor & trailer, which may require shifting and use of a clutch on assigned vehicle
- Complete the Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), noting any defects on assigned equipment, daily
- Driver Log, and Monthly Mileage Report
- Follow all Federal, State, and Local driving regulations and ordinances
- Perform minor repair or cleaning of can densifiers
- Use required PPE as needed, including proper ear, eye, and hand protection
- Clean and perform basic upkeep/maintenance on assigned vehicles
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Interact in person with peers and management for the duration of the shift
- Handle high-stress situations as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2 years of verifiable related driving experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- CDL A license with an acceptable driving record and a valid medical card
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Able to follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation
- Able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions
- Able to write routine reports and correspondence
Physical Requirements
- Remain in a seated position for the duration of the shift
- Frequently operate controls to position, load, and unload the truck
- Frequently lift and move materials and tools weighing up to 50 lbs to load/unload and tarp the truck and perform basic maintenance
- Work in a loud, wet, dusty, and physically demanding environment, including extreme hot and cold temperature variations
- Routinely perform repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting
