About the role

The Loan Servicer III supports the credit union by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of loan records and processes to minimize risk and potential loss. This role requires an advanced level of commercial, mortgage, and consumer loan servicing expertise and includes responsibility for secondary market execution and investor related activities, supporting work of high complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform servicing duties for complex loan types including loan advances, rate change notices/ maturity letters, tax agency reporting, payment maintenance, payoffs, partial or full releases, assignment of rents, UCC filings, etc.
  • Responsible for servicing functions regarding participation loans and payment remittances.
  • Act as liaison with CUSOs to gather month-end data and work reports for loans with outsourced servicing.
  • Work reports to gather trailing documentation, such as recorded mortgages, assignment of rents and title insurance/attorney opinion letters, etc.
  • Respond to member and originator inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Aid in processing/underwriting with renewing matured loans.
  • Research and resolve complex payment, insurance and tax issues, etc.
  • Maintain proficiency in loan servicing functions and provide coverage as a designated backup or during periods of elevated volume.
  • Assist in other areas of the lending department which may include training new employees, new user setup, rate changes, etc., as needed or assigned.
  • Work on special projects or assignments as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of rules, policies and procedures governing all classes of loans, with a focus on commercial and mortgage lending regulations, secondary market investor guidelines, and compliance.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Three to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending practices and procedures.
  • Ability to run spreadsheet and word processing software.

Performance Measurements

  • To provide friendly, professional and accurate service and support to all members and coworkers.
  • To service loans, work reports and submit required data timely as well as ensure sold loans comply with secondary market standards, including pricing accuracy, delivery timelines, and investor documentation requirements.
  • To prepare files for annual reviews within established timeframes.
  • To cross sell credit union products and services.
  • To follow the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures, including running OFAC searches, completing investigative reports of suspicious activity and currency transaction reports timely and without error.
  • To maintain a professional work environment, promote teamwork, build respect among coworkers and present a businesslike appearance.
  • To follow all security policies and procedures and report discrepancies or suspicious activity to manager immediately.
  • To maintain working knowledge of all business products and rates, both within the credit union and from the industry overall.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, stand, and walk short distances.
  • Use hands and fingers to count currency and handle, manipulate, and feel objects, documents, and office tools and equipment.
  • Read, write, listen, speak, and use personal computers, copiers, telephones, and other office equipment and software throughout the work day.
  • Sometimes stoop, bend, squat, and reach overhead with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally push and pull of office furniture and other objects.
  • Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and on occasion lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay Range

$29.50 - $30.41 per hour
