About the role
United Community is seeking a Loan Ops Consumer Loan Closing Spec I to join our lending team. This role is crucial for managing the entire consumer loan closing process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
Responsibilities
- Cook up and monitor all stages of the loan closing process.
- Inspect and interpret third-party documents like appraisals, title work, flood determinations, and insurance.
- Make sure all underwriting conditions are satisfied and documented before issuing a "clear to close."
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including lenders, attorneys, title companies, and vendors.
- Prepare and review loan documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely follow-up to meet service level agreements.
- Support compliance with all regulatory and internal policy requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and foster a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in a financial institution, focusing on due diligence or loan documentation.
- 1+ years of consumer loan documentation experience.
- Experience in an automated loan origination environment is highly desirable.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree is preferred.
- A solid understanding of consumer lending, loan documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with third-party documents such as title work, appraisals, and insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with banking systems such as Meridian Link, 360 View, LaserPro, TruStage, Navigator, and UCBI systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to escalate and resolve issues effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience/Education
- Completion of Loan Closing Specialist Certification Program (Level I).
- Understanding of complex credit structures and multiple funding sources.
- Knowledge of fair lending practices and regulations (CIP, Reg H, HMDA, CRA, Reg O).
- Ability to calculate Loan-to-Value ratios and assess insurance adequacy.
Conditions of Employment
- Must pass a background & credit check.
- This is a full-time, non-remote position.
- Up to 1% travel may be required.
- FLSA Status: Non-exempt.
Pay
The pay range for this position is USD $34,102.00 - USD $49,382.00 /Yr.
