About the role

United Community is seeking a Loan Ops Consumer Loan Closing Spec I to join our lending team. This role is crucial for managing the entire consumer loan closing process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.

Responsibilities

  • Cook up and monitor all stages of the loan closing process.
  • Inspect and interpret third-party documents like appraisals, title work, flood determinations, and insurance.
  • Make sure all underwriting conditions are satisfied and documented before issuing a "clear to close."
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including lenders, attorneys, title companies, and vendors.
  • Prepare and review loan documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely follow-up to meet service level agreements.
  • Support compliance with all regulatory and internal policy requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a financial institution, focusing on due diligence or loan documentation.
  • 1+ years of consumer loan documentation experience.
  • Experience in an automated loan origination environment is highly desirable.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of consumer lending, loan documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with third-party documents such as title work, appraisals, and insurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with banking systems such as Meridian Link, 360 View, LaserPro, TruStage, Navigator, and UCBI systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to escalate and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience/Education

  • Completion of Loan Closing Specialist Certification Program (Level I).
  • Understanding of complex credit structures and multiple funding sources.
  • Knowledge of fair lending practices and regulations (CIP, Reg H, HMDA, CRA, Reg O).
  • Ability to calculate Loan-to-Value ratios and assess insurance adequacy.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must pass a background & credit check.
  • This is a full-time, non-remote position.
  • Up to 1% travel may be required.
  • FLSA Status: Non-exempt.

Pay

The pay range for this position is USD $34,102.00 - USD $49,382.00 /Yr.
