About the Role
A Loan Operations Exceptions Specialist I plays a critical role in the day-to-day functions of the Exception Review team. This role conducts a detailed review of loan packages to ensure compliance with bank policy as well as state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine and basic administrative tasks at the direction of team lead or manager.
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion in the performance of duties in support of the Exception Review team.
- Performs detailed post-closing review of loan documents such as promissory notes, security agreements, deeds/mortgages for basic loan types, to ensure loan documents meet bank, regulatory, and investor guidelines.
- Reviews supporting documents such as title work, appraisal, flood insurance, and environmental reports to ensure that lender has completed specified legal and regulatory due diligence.
- Cites document deficiency exceptions in Bank core system.
- Reviews trailing documents submitted by Account Officers to clear exceptions; uploads trailing documents to imaging system as needed.
- Performs basic due diligence searches as needed, such as Secretary of State good standing.
- Assists Loan Officers with questions regarding exceptions, document requirements, and resolution of document-related issues.
- Meets performance standards of established production metric, quality standard of 98% accuracy, and turnaround time of 45 days.
- Adheres to Corporate and Loan Operations policies and procedures as prescribed.
- Exemplifies behaviors in alignment with the bank’s vision, mission, and culture; exhibits professionalism at all times.
- Provides world-class service to internal and external clients with a sense of urgency and positive attitude.
- Participates in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences.
- Performs other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned or required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience in a Loan Operations/Loan Processing/Branch environment.
Skills
- Required Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Exceptional organization and time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities to meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to think critically and problem solve with guidance.
- Preferred Skills:
- Document Preparation or Document Review experience.
- Basic knowledge of Commercial and/or Retail loan documentation requirements, including collateral perfection.
- Basic knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be able to pass a criminal background and credit check.
- This is a full-time, non-remote position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.
Pay
Pay Range: USD $37,440.00 - USD $49,382.00 per year.
