About the role
This position serves two primary functions: Direct Loan Processing and Recording, and Financial Aid Assistance.
Responsibilities
- Help students obtain financial assistance through the Department of Education Federal Direct Student Loans.
- Process all loan applications for Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans.
- Provide accurate and current Loan Counseling and financial literacy for students.
- Maintain loan application files in compliance with Federal Direct Loan Rules and Regulations and Salish Kootenai College policies and procedures.
- Calculate student eligibility and package accurate loan calculations.
- Maintain reconciliation and closeout figures with the Salish Kootenai College Business Office and Department of Education.
- Provide students with financial aid information, respond to concerns, and solve technical problems.
- Educate and instruct students in financial aid processes.
- Maintain files in compliance with Federal rules and regulations and Salish Kootenai College policies, including record keeping and general office procedures.
- Counsel students on financial aid matters.
- Assist with the development of handbooks, policies and procedures manuals, brochures, and other materials.
- Assist with default management.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in business administration or a closely related field.
- Experience working with Native American populations in a technical or professional capacity.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and abiding by federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures (e.g., PELL, FSEOG, Federal College Work-Study, Federal Direct Loans, and other available educational funding).
