Loan Closer
Mascoma Bank is seeking a Loan Closer to join our Mortgage Lending team. This role ensures a great final experience in the loan process by coordinating with multiple parties to deliver complete and compliant loans.
Responsibilities
- Participates in and contributes to teamwork within the organization.
- Schedules closings and prepares closing documents for Residential Mortgages.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of regulations and procedures specific to the settlement of Residential Real Estate Transactions, including TRID, rescission, Secondary Market, Flood, and escrow.
- Ensures documentation complies with regulatory guidelines, bank policy, and standards.
- Reviews loans for accuracy, completeness, and compliance as outlined by loan policy, MB online Origination manual, Secondary Market guide, Processing manual, and Regulators.
- Utilizes automated underwriting system, Loan Product Advisor, and re-submits loans as outlined in the MB Origination manual.
- Works closely with underwriting, Lenders, Lender Assistants, and third-party vendors to resolve issues during the process.
- Reviews reports for pending loans to ensure accuracy and timely follow-up for all outstanding tracking items.
- Tracks conditions in LOS and reviews documentation to ensure it meets guidelines.
- Assists co-workers and interacts with customers, loan processing, and third parties (e.g., realtors, attorneys, insurance agents) throughout the closing process.
- Maintains Closing/Post Closing procedure manuals.
- Assists in troubleshooting and resolving closing and quality control issues with Settlement Agents, Customers, Realtors, Loan Servicing, Secondary Market, and Closing Staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of lending or job-related experience, or two years of overall banking experience.
- Working knowledge of computers and strong typing skills.
- Proficiency with numbers; clear and articulate communication (verbal and written); strong customer service ethic; ability to work independently, set priorities, and display initiative.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with co-workers and superiors.
- Professional appearance consistent with Mascoma Bank’s appearance policy.

Location
This is a hybrid position within the Upper Valley of VT and NH, with an expectation of 1-2 days per week on-site at our White River Junction, VT Operations Center.

Pay
$23.00 - $25.29/hour.
