The Loader Operator is responsible for loading vendor trucks and Inter-Company haul trucks with specified amounts and types of aggregate. This role also maintains stockpiles, ensuring they are properly mixed and that asphalt and concrete plants are loaded with uncontaminated material. Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; occasional checks are made while work is in progress, and work is reviewed upon completion. Good judgment and common sense are required in all duties and any other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report unsafe conditions to a supervisor and/or Manager Safety & Health.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and meet housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.
  • Operate a front-end loader to lift and transport raw material onto vendor and Inter-Company haul trucks.
  • Maintain familiarity with different stockpiles and ensure raw materials are properly stored.
  • Verify and maintain storage amounts of aggregate in stockpiles.
  • Maintain daily cleanliness of the loader, perform pre-shift inspections, and complete pre-shift forms.
  • Fuel and grease the loader daily.
  • Receive and maintain recycled incoming materials and stockpiles.
  • Expeditiously load trucks needing aggregates and recycled aggregates as required.
  • Receive and maintain stockpiles of virgin aggregates for RMC and HMA plants; coordinate with supervisors on inventories and demand.
  • Accurately load production facilities with materials to avoid running plants out of materials during operation.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • One to two years of related experience required; other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Current North Carolina Driver’s License required.

Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Basic arithmetic skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of dollars, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Schedule

Working hours fluctuate daily based on production goals and customer sales; there is no set normal schedule.
