Loader Operator

About the role

This position involves operating various types of heavy equipment to manage salvage vehicles and facility grounds. Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform preoperational inspections to ensure equipment safety.
• Operate equipment safely and courteously, managing pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• Check fluids and lubricate equipment according to schedule.
• Communicate findings and equipment hours to management.
• Prioritize and plan workloads to prevent operational delays.
• Unload cars from haulers, stage cars for inventory, dismantle, and cut vehicles.
• Maintain grounds by removing snow, spreading stone, and ensuring proper drainage.
• Assist with regulatory compliance and quality assurance of dismantled vehicles.
• Load processed cars onto processing racks and prepare for final disposal.
• Assist with safety and regulatory compliance within the facility.
• Ensure accurate location of vehicles in the salvage yard.
• Communicate delays and issues promptly to management and coworkers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by dispatch.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience.
• Heavy equipment operations experience and some automotive background.
• Basic technology competence (scan gun, tablet/phone applications).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle stress and operate calmly in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous heavy equipment operating experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• General maintenance knowledge.
• Understanding of automotive components and disassembly.
• Experience in rigging/lifting operations.
