About the role
The position supports the Distribution Department in driving continuous growth and financial success for the Membership and Company. The primary focus is on loading assigned trailers accurately and efficiently while maintaining a strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Load assigned trailers in the sequence indicated by loading documents.
- Verify store number and piece count for accuracy.
- Scan pallets and trailer doors to track and confirm loads.
- Load products with care to prevent damage and ensure maximum efficiency.
- Wrap pallets to maintain stability during transport.
- Operate industrial mobile equipment safely and productively.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate with supervision regarding any issues affecting the loading process (e.g., suggestions, problems, or concerns).
- Verify accuracy of trips, repack, cigarettes, tobacco, VMC, circulars, and other items.
- Collaborate with the AWG team to meet overall job responsibilities.
- Demonstrate cooperation, integrity, tact, and consideration with members, associates, and management.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred; prior warehouse experience and mobile equipment operating experience are a plus.
- Ability to read, speak, and write fluent English.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic math and algebra skills for calculating figures.
- Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
- Capability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Strong teamwork skills to foster mutual respect and achieve common goals.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with arms, and communicate verbally.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse mobile equipment.
Work Environment
- Primarily indoors with adequate cooling, heating, and lighting; occasional outdoor work as needed.
- Warehouse environment with moderate noise from industrial mobile equipment.
- Varied temperatures based on work area: non-air-conditioned sections reflect outside temperatures, while perishable sections range from -15°F to the upper 40s°F.
