LNG Technology Manager
Job Summary
In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate, and review technical direction and training for large, complex projects. You will prepare estimates and work scope, approve staffing needs and schedules, and manage performance. Your interdisciplinary coordination of engineering technology aspects will ensure work meets project requirements and is completed according to scope, schedule, and budget. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews technical direction and training to technologists on a large sized, complex assignment or in support of a global business unit
- Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work
- Communicates and reviews complex interdisciplinary technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
- Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
- Approves Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAPs) and administrative practices
- Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
- Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups
- Mentors engineers, scientists, designers, and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
- Approves staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth knowledge of the Honeywell / Air Products propane-precooled mixed-refrigerant (AP-C3MR) cycle, including refrigerant loops, compressor/gas-turbine driver trains, and sub-cooled/end-flash configurations; familiarity with adjacent AP-X / AP-DMR / AP-SMR cycles preferred.
- Proficiency in steady-state modeling of liquefaction, NGL recovery, and gas treating (AGRU), producing Heat & Material Balances, PFDs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or serve as process focal point in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, 3D model, and operability reviews, and to manage EPC follow-up actions.
- Full LNG project lifecycle experience. Proven contribution across FEED, EPC, commissioning, start-up, performance testing, and operations, including licensor/vendor evaluation and on-site RFSU/start-up troubleshooting on large scale LNG facilities.
