About the Role
This position focuses on providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups who have survived traumatic events, including victims/survivors of sexual, physical and domestic violence, stalking, and other crimes, as well as secondary victims. Services include assistance with New York State Office of Victim Services compensation claims, crisis counseling, short-term counseling, advocacy, and accompaniment through criminal, family, and civil court proceedings. The role also involves responding to crisis situations via our 24-Hour Hotline, including accompaniments to the ED and acting as a supportive advocate in legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a therapy caseload of 20 to 25 individual clients seen weekly.
- Provide supportive services, including crisis intervention, counseling/therapy, advocacy, and compensation assistance.
- Assist with staffing the program’s 24-hour hotline (minimum of 4, 12-hour shifts per month).
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field required.
- Valid NYS driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
- Previous experience providing counseling to individuals and groups ages 12 and older is strongly desired.
- Experience working with victims/survivors of crime is preferred.
- LMSW/LMHC preferred; willingness to obtain Limited Licensure through NYS Education Department required if not yet licensed.
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and the Department of Corrections is desired.
- NYS Department of Health Sexual Assault Counselor Certification is required but will be provided at no cost if not yet certified.
Pay
Pay Range: $30.00 - $43.08 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary based on location.
