Living Room - Captain Server

About the role

The Captain Server oversees daily lounge service, supporting both leadership and front-line staff to ensure each guest experience reflects Sundance's standards of authenticity, craftsmanship, and understated luxury. This role blends hands-on service with calm, thoughtful leadership, maintaining consistency, presentation, and precision throughout every shift.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-shift briefings to review priorities, menu highlights, and service standards.
• Guide and support servers and bartenders through coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
• Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure pacing, accuracy, and quality.
• Oversee setup and breakdown to maintain cleanliness and readiness.
• Monitor inventory, requisitions, and par levels for all service items.
• Engage guests with genuine hospitality, anticipating needs and ensuring satisfaction.
• Maintain documentation, including shift reports and operational checklists.
• Serve as liaison between management and staff for seamless communication.
• Prepare and present beverages to company standards; follow recipes precisely and maintain top presentation.
• Educate guests on products and services.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Stock supplies and ensure equipment remains in good repair.
• Assist with hiring, training, and performance management.
• Address employee issues and recognize strong performance.
• Complete and submit HR paperwork promptly.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; hospitality coursework preferred.
• 2+ years in luxury or boutique hotel dining required.
• 1+ year in a supervisory or captain role preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Must meet Utah alcohol certification requirements.
• Professional composure under pressure; detail-oriented hospitality focus.

Pay

$25.00/hr + Tips

Schedule

Full-time year round; variable AM/PM shifts Sunday through Saturday; weekends and holidays required.
