Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Makes a pre-trip and post-trip inspection of truck and trailer and fill out DOT inspection forms at end of each trip.
- Drives to and from farms, making 1 to 4 trips day and night with a driving range of 30 minutes to 4 hours without a stop.
- Carry cover during winter and assist with covering load when temperature is below 30 degrees.
- Cross scale with tractor and trailer before going to farms and when returning fill trucks with fuel before scaling the full load.
- Secure empty modulars before leaving plant and make sure full modulars are secured before returning.
Physical Requirements And Environmental Factors
- Work is performed outdoors and in poultry house environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, odors, noise, and uneven or muddy terrain.
- Position requires extended sitting, frequent climbing, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces, with the ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be able to safely operate a commercial vehicle while following all safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity protocols.
Minimum Education And Experience
- A high school diploma or GED.
- 2 years’ experience driving tractor-trailers.
- A Class A CDL license.
