Live Bottom Truck Driver (Dickerson and Bowen)

General Summary

D&B is a leading provider of aggregates, asphalt and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. This Driver must be capable of moving equipment, hauling drill cuttings and/or fluids in a safe and professional manner.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Verifies load against shipping papers.
• Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area.
• Prepares receipts for load picked up.
• Collections payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
• Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• May drive truck equipped with public address system through city streets to broadcast announcements over system for advertising or publicity purposes.
• Loads and unloads truck.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Performs emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.

Education and Certification

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement or Class A CDL required.

Work Experience and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• 1 to 3 yrs. experience
• Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
  • Read and interpret road maps
  • Practice good safety habits
  • Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
  • Judge distances and weights accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards
• Physically, Workers Must Be Able To:
  • Stoop, bend, and crouch
  • Use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • See well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
