Litigation Secretary/Paralegal - Support 1 Partner!
Position Overview
The Legal Secretary / Paralegal will provide senior-level support in all phases of litigation, with a heavy emphasis on court filings, calendaring, and document preparation. This is a critical role within the firm and offers the opportunity to be a true partner to the attorney rather than simply support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, and electronically file pleadings and legal documents in California state courts
- Manage complex calendaring and docketing, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines
- Draft and finalize Tables of Contents (TOCs) and Tables of Authorities (TOAs)
- Aid with litigation matters involving real estate, business, commercial, and construction disputes
- Provide direct, day-to-day support to the firm's principal attorney
- Maintain organized case files and assist with discovery, correspondence, and litigation support tasks as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
- Senior-level Legal Secretary and/or Paralegal experience required (open to candidates with 20+ years of tenure)
- Strong e-filing experience in California state courts is essential
- Pioneering expertise in litigation calendaring, TOCs/TOAs, and court rules
- Background supporting business, commercial, real estate, and/or construction litigation
- Paralegal Certificate required
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a small firm setting
- Professional, dependable, and able to thrive in a close-collaborative environment
Hourly Pay
Depends on Experience level but starting around $40-$42/hr.
