Position responsibilities
- Strategic planning and leadership
- Thought leadership for marketing and client development
- Collaboration within and across marketing department, practice groups, and stakeholders
- Leadership of marketing budget for assigned practice group(s)
- Ownership of all aspects of (Business/Litigation) department marketing activities
- Creation of annual budget and marketing plan
- Execution of marketing plan priorities, projects, events, and ad hoc requests
- Development of leading marketing materials including qualifications, pitch decks, matter and experience lists, website content, and more
- Implementation of service excellence standard in communications, interactions, and delivery of marketing support
- Championing initiatives to create institutional clients through cross-sell existing services, practice groups, and offices
- Collaboration with Communications in developing brand and marketing campaigns
- Leadership, guidance, and mentoring of attorneys and staff
- Supervision of direct reports, compliance with assigned work hours, and monitoring for compliance with firm and department policies
- Management of staffing coverage, review and processing of time logs/time off requests
- Support of business professional development and continued educational opportunities
- Participation in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination, and other employee lifecycle events
Skills and experience
- After orientation at Cooley LLP, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, iManage, and other firm applications
- Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, or other spreadsheet programs and firm software
- Extended and/or weekend hours, as required
- Travel, as required
- 7+ years applicable experience in the field with 2+ years of exempt/management experience
- Proven leadership capabilities, including decisiveness, judgement, effective prioritization skills, and a results-driven orientation
- Entrepreneurial nature, high energy, creativity, quick thinking, and comfort with risk
- Depth of understanding of the individual office’s region
- Experience with sales contact database programs
- Supervisory experience
