Litigation Legal Assistant - California

Job Summary

We are looking to add a Legal Assistant with California civil litigation experience to support our growing California Staff Counsel team! This is a virtual position.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains schedules and calendar for assigned attorney(s).
• Composes a variety of correspondence, pleadings and various legal forms.
• Captures and coordinates time and location of multi-party appearances, including depositions, arbitrations, mediations, Independent Medical Examinations (IME’s) meetings and site inspections.
• Answers telephone calls, emails and handles client inquiries.
• Receives and processes incoming mail. Contacts clients, witnesses, court reporters, interpreters, claims personnel, and others to confirm scheduled appearances as instructed by assigned attorney(s).
• Maintains a thorough knowledge and keeps up-to-date with court rules and legal deadlines.

Physical Actions

• Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
• Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance.

Education Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Requirements

• 1-3 years experience in civil litigation as a legal administration clerk, secretary, or legal assistant required.
