About the role

A well-established law firm in Downtown San Diego is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support a busy team of attorneys handling complex business litigation matters. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where attention to detail, organization, and strong litigation support skills are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential administrative and litigation support to attorneys.
  • Prepare, edit, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Handle state and federal e-filing and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Prepare tables of contents and tables of authorities for court filings.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and other case-related events.
  • Calendar court dates, filing deadlines, and litigation milestones while coordinating with docketing personnel as needed.
  • Enter attorney time and assist with expense reimbursements.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and conference logistics.
  • Manage client files, including matter opening, conflicts checks, records management, and file closing procedures.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, shipping, scanning, copying, and document management tasks.
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, billing staff, and other administrative team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Provide overflow administrative and secretarial support as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business litigation experience supporting attorneys in a law firm environment.
  • Strong experience with state and federal court e-filing procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of legal terminology, litigation procedures, and e-discovery processes.
  • Strong proofreading, grammar, and written communication skills.
  • Experience with legal software such as 3E, iManage, Kofax Power PDF, Emburse, Milana, and Forms Workflow is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accurate typing skills of at least 60 WPM.
