Responsibilities
- Manage incoming correspondence by reviewing, scanning, organizing, and directing documents to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Provide daily litigation and administrative support to attorneys, helping maintain smooth workflow across active matters.
- Cook up attorney calendars, monitor key case dates, and proactively track filing and litigation deadlines to reduce the risk of missed obligations.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, and other legal documents for submission.
- Handle service of legal documents and assemble filing materials, including draft shells, copies, and supporting case documents.
- Submit court filings in accordance with applicable state and federal rules, using legal technology platforms when needed.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure documents are properly stored, updated, and accessible for the legal team.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary supporting litigation matters.
- Prior exposure to civil litigation defense work, with openness to candidates from a range of practice areas.
- Working knowledge of state and federal court filing procedures and related deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage attorney calendars independently and follow up proactively on critical dates.
- Experience preparing pleadings and other litigation documents with strong formatting and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with serving legal documents and compiling filing packets accurately and efficiently.
- Proficiency with calendar management and legal support tools, including experience with systems such as One Legal and Law Toolbox.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
