Duties and Responsibilities
- Defend and litigate lawsuits involving a broad range of employment-related claims and agency charges
- Advises, counsels, and trains employers on various employment and labor law issues
- Represents employers in court or arbitration, before administrative agencies, and at mediations in employment matters, including class/collective actions and discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, contract, employment tort, and non-compete cases
Skills and Educational Requirements
- JD from ABA accredited law school, with excellent academic credentials
- 4+ years of experience (to be considered for an Associate role) handling California employment litigation
- To be eligible for consideration for an Of Counsel level remote role, you must generally have at least 9+ of relevant California experience and a demonstrated ability to operate in a first chair capacity
- Must be admitted to the CA state bar and comply with all ethical requirements in the resident state, including being barred if required
- Understanding of current agency (state and federal) procedures
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Commitment to professionalism, collegiality, and teamwork
Qualifications
- Experience in defending and litigating employment-related claims and agency charges
- Knowledge of California employment laws and regulations
- Experience in representing employers in court or arbitration, before administrative agencies, and at mediations in employment matters
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
