Job Details
We are seeking an employment litigation associate to join a growing litigation practice handling a wide range of workplace disputes. This position is designed for an attorney who enjoys active litigation work and is interested in expanding into advice and counseling responsibilities as experience develops. The role offers meaningful involvement in litigation strategy, direct engagement with clients, and the opportunity to take ownership of matters under the guidance of experienced practitioners. While the practice is litigation-focused, attorneys are encouraged to broaden their skill set through counseling and preventive employment work over time.
Responsibilities
- Handle employment-related litigation matters in state and federal forums
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and written advocacy materials
- Manage discovery, including document review, organization, and case strategy
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex employment issues
- Participate in mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
- Work directly with clients on litigation strategy and case management
- Support employment advice and counseling matters consistent with experience
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of employment litigation experience
- Experience drafting pleadings and managing discovery processes
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in expanding beyond litigation into employment counseling work
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in Maine or New Hampshire
- Dual licensure in both Maine and New Hampshire strongly preferred
- Massachusetts bar admission a plus
