About the Role
Under the direction of the Director of PPS, this part-time, temporary position (7/1/2026–8/11/2026) involves providing direct instruction to students, individually or in small groups, to develop literacy skills. The Wilson Certified teacher will also serve as a literacy leader, offering coaching, support, and guidance to teachers on best practices for literacy instruction.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate the school's literacy intervention program.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify students' literacy needs, set learning goals, and develop best practices for continuous academic growth.
- Assist teachers with data collection, analysis, and sharing of findings with staff.
- Review student achievement and place students in appropriate reading and writing intervention services.
- Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups daily using research-based strategies.
- Assist students using software and materials related to literacy programs.
- Meet regularly with classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction aligned with individual student needs.
- Maintain and submit accurate records of student progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Wilson Certification (required).
- NYSD Certification in Reading, Literacy, or Special Education.
Work Environment
The work environment is typical for a school, with indoor instruction and limited outdoor supervision of students. Noise levels are consistent with a school setting.
Pay
Salary is calculated as 1/200th of the hourly rate based on placement on the corresponding YCT Salary Schedule (Range: $62,306 – $135,587 for 2025/2026).
