Extended School Year -Reading Teacher (Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson Certified)

About the role

We are seeking 1–2 special educators certified in Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson to provide small-group reading instruction during our Extended School Year (ESY) program.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted intervention aligned with students' IEP goals
  • Collaborate with ESY staff to support student progress
  • Collect regular data towards existing IEP goals and report on it in the “Summer Summaries” at the conclusion of the ESY program
  • Take and maintain daily attendance
  • Complete ALL student summer performance reports by the end of day on the last day of the program
  • Provide copies of the report to be filed and uploaded into EasyIEP
  • Combine student performance reports into one document for parent(s) and district file

Requirements

  • Special education certification in Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson
  • Experience delivering small-group reading instruction
  • Knowledge of IEP goals and how to align interventions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with ESY staff
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with technology integration in education
  • Passion for supporting students with special needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $204.15 per day for teachers and related service providers
  • Eligibility for SummerFun! for APS summer program educators with a 75% discount for non-vendor classes and 30% discount for vendor classes

Pay

  • $204.15 per day

Schedule

  • July 6 through July 24, Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
  • One-week break from July 27–30
  • Programming resumes on August 3 and continues Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. through August 13
