Literacy Paraeducator

About the role

This part-time position supports students in grades 5–8 by providing small group and individual assistance in reading and writing, reinforcing classroom instruction, and encouraging strong literacy habits.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group and individual assistance in reading and writing
• Reinforce classroom instruction
• Encourage strong literacy habits
• Demonstrate a passion for helping adolescents grow as readers and writers
• Work collaboratively with teachers and specialists
• Foster a supportive environment where students feel confident and motivated to build their literacy skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• ParaPro Test or equivalent of 2 year's college credits - 60 credits
• Experience working in a school system preferred
• Experience supporting students in literacy intervention programs preferred
