Literacy Instructor

Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts—approximately 15 miles north of Boston, is an independent, co-educational Catholic day school in the Augustinian tradition, serving more than 800 students in grades 6–12.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Literacy Instructor to join our Student Integrated Learning Program. This position focuses on providing targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to students with Dyslexia and other Language-Based Learning Disabilities. The Literacy Instructor will provide specialized support through small groups and one-to-one instruction, using structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading System. You will work closely with classroom teachers, academic support staff, and families to support student progress and promote a nurturing, inclusive learning environment aligned with Augustinian values of truth, unity, and love.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to students with Dyslexia and other Language-Based Learning Disabilities.
• Deliver specialized support through small groups and one-to-one instruction using structured literacy approaches (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System).
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, academic support staff, and families to support student progress.
• Promote a nurturing, inclusive learning environment aligned with Augustinian values.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Certification or advanced training in structured literacy programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with students with reading difficulties or language-based learning disabilities.
• Strong understanding of literacy development, dyslexia, and intervention best practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to student-centered instruction and continuous professional growth.
• Experience in special education or inclusive settings supporting language-based learning disabilities.

Pay

$70,000 – $80,000 per year
